A Metropolitan Police officer caught with more than 100 extreme pornographic images on his phone, including people having sex with dogs, has been spared jail.
George Patmore, 32, part of the force's North East Command Unit, was arrested in July 2022 over alleged sexual images of children which were found in his possession.
The officer admitted publishing an obscene article relating to the sexual abuse of dogs.
But he was cleared by a jury of three counts of making an indecent image of a child after a trial at Southwark Crown Court.
Patmore was given a 15-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.

Giving evidence he said had descended to a ‘dark place' looking at adult porn and images of bestiality.
Patmore insisted he never went searching for underage sexual images and he was cleared of three counts of making an indecent image of a child.
He wept as he said he had no idea how 24 indecent images of children ended up in his possession.
The officer had refused to give police the PIN to his iPhone following his arrest due to the bestial material on his phone.
Patmore also told the court he had children of his own and said he felt ‘f****** terrible'.
He said the search term ‘teen' was popular while accessing pornography websites and he insisted all the material hosted on those sites is legal.
Terence Woods, prosecuting, told the court that 123 extreme pornographic images were found on Patmore's phone.
Officers also found the Kik messenger app on his mobile and it became clear that Patmore had participated in group chats with people who shared his interest in extreme porn and in bestiality.
‘On a number of occasions in the group chats, the defendant sent to members of the group extreme pornographic images featuring humans and dogs engaging in sexual activity of various types,' Mr Woods said.

‘This was often preceded or followed by conversations between participants in the group about their desire to engage in sexual activity with dogs in particular, and there were exchanges in the group about engaging in sexual activity with one member's dog.'
Rebecca Hadgett, defending, said: ‘He is genuinely remorseful. That is something that probation officers agreed with in their analysis.
‘The defendant has reflected on his behaviour. He has genuinely understood and accepted the profound impact that this offending can have.'
Patmore was cleared of having 24 indecent images, including 10 in category A - the most serious classification.
Sentencing Patmore, Judge Gregory Perrins said: ‘This offence is plainly aggravated by the fact that you were at the time a serving police officer.
‘It goes without saying that the public are entitled to expect the highest standards and integrity from police officers, to expect police officers to live law-abiding lives and frankly not to engage in the kind of depravity involved in distributing material of this nature.
‘This undermines public confidence in the police, and you must have known that.'
Patmore has been attending Sex Addicts Anonymous for two years, the court heard.
The judge accepted he suffers from PTSD and anxiety, but added: ‘There is no evidence to suggest that these conditions had any bearing on your decision to behave the way that you did.'
He will have to take part in the Horizon programme aimed at reducing the risk of reoffending.
The officer will also have to complete 35 days of a rehabilitation requirement.
He was ordered to pay £900 in prosecution costs within the next 18 months.
Judge Perrins added: ‘Were this offence committed while you were on duty, memeq or had it been in any way connected to your work, I would have had no hesitation in passing an immediate custodial sentence. That is not the case here and I accept that.'
Patmore, from Edgware, northwest London, denied and was cleared of three charges of making indecent images of children.
He had admitted publishing an obscene article namely messages relating to the sexual abuse of dogs.
